President Joe Biden has instructed the U.S. government to assess the potential benefits and risks of establishing a central bank digital currency and address other issues amid the rise in the adoption of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets. President Biden ordered the Treasury Department and other federal agencies to evaluate and come up with policy recommendations to address the implications of the digital asset sector for investors and customers and encourages the Financial Stability Oversight Council to identify and mitigate systemic risk posed by digital assets.
Vectrus and the Vertex Company have reached a merger agreement to combine their service offerings in support of various defense sector needs. Chuck Prow, CEO of Vectrus and an eight-time winner of the Wash100 Award, will become the chief executive of the combined global government services company once the deal officially closes in the third quarter of 2022.

The U.S. Air Force has chosen Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to replace a tactical ground-based radar system used to carry out airspace defense operations. USAF said Wednesday it will exercise an option of a previously awarded contract to procure the company's AN/TPY-4(V)1 technology for the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar production effort.
Tetra Tech (Nasdaq: TTEK) has purchased Axiom Data Science for an undisclosed sum to broaden its climate data analytics platforms and will operate the acquired company as part of its government services group. Anchorage, Alaska-based Axiom performs climate science modeling to help federal, academic, nongovernmental organizations and commercial clients integrate, manage and visualize datasets that are key to addressing climate change.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has proposed to amend its rules to improve and standardize disclosures by public companies regarding incident reporting, cybersecurity risk management, governance and strategy. The proposal would require current reporting of material cyber incidents and periodic reporting to offer updates on previously reported attacks.
