Welcome to the #Clubhouse

Welcome to the #Clubhouse

Whoop, that went fast. 10 days ago i started my research about Social Media Trends 2021 and made myself familiar with the audio hype. I’ve already heard about Clubhouse last year so I decided to download the app which was kinda frustrating cause without an invite there was no way to grasp the platform and its features, but at least I reserved my username Vickal21. Everyone was talking about it calling it Audio Twitter but I had no idea what the real purpose was. So far so good.

Yesterday everything went super fast and Clubhouse was a thing, at least in my Austrian bubble. I got myself an invite (actually from Spain – thanks again) and I started to dive deep into the app, listened to conversations, asked a question in a US talk about morning routines and suddenly I landed in a room with former colleagues, which was super random but nice.

 What is Clubhouse?

Clubhouse is a live audio app that allows people to listen to or actively participate in live discussions.

It reminds me a little bit of talkshows. I felt like back in the days as a teen when talkshows on TV where a thing (of course they still are). A topic, a moderator and guests on stage. In Clubhouse, you experience rooms and it’s obviously audio only and digital. And that’s the game changer cause you can interact in the talkshows you are in and you can host your own room. I dare to say that maybe you don’t need a moderator.

The truth is, it is another social media platform touching onto our addictive human behaviour, our need to feel connected and of course our FOMO. It’s gonna be super interesting where this is heading to. Being in a club in times like these sounds like a nice ting so let’s listen to each other and connect on Clubhouse.

Facts:

-      Audio only

-      Real Time Audio Chat

-      Members only

-      iPhone only

-      for free

-      You can join a room and listen

-      You can start your own room

How do I get in?

Personal invite. Everyone can invite 2 people using their phone number. Kinda pro members who’ve already spent some time on the platform can invite more.

You can join Clubhouse (download in the app store) and check out if your friends are there who can let you in.

Why?

-      You feel closely connected to the people

-      It’s not about looking good – the talks need to bring value to you

-      No typical Social Media Algorithm (yet)

-      Meet new people and interact with them live

-      It’s live, nothing is recorded.

-      Like a podcast, you can listen while you’re doing something else.

Imagine asking people you are connected with for 10 minutes zoom coffee. And, let's say you want to do this with 100's of people. That wont happen because people are so busy. Now, with clubhouse you get more than 10 minutes with those people. And, you get to do this whenever you have free time. Even better you get meet people you never knew existed so it's fun and exciting.

Hi Victoria, I would love an invite from either yourself or one of your colleagues.
