60 seconds with Davinia Upshall

We recently chatted with Davinia, our franchise partner and business coach, to learn more about her.

  • Why did you decide to join Brainiact?

It was a perfect time to become my own boss, after a 20+ year corporate career, working in finance, strategy, process and innovation fields across a variety of industry sectors. I wanted to operate as part of a brand and Brainiact offers a tried and trusted system and the benefits of a skilled network.

  • What do you like most about your job?

Meeting fabulous entrepreneurs who are treating their own paths to success. Today was an excellent example: I met a prospective client who has a full-time job leading their field in medical research, but who also has a business to share their skills to improve global outcomes in their medical field. They were truly inspirational, and the conversation left me feeling passionate and energised.

  • Describe yourself in three words.

Encouraging, diligent, and creative.

  • As a child, what was your dream job?

A farmer – I loved spending time at an aunt and uncle’s farm, working hard as a team to achieve goals and being outdoors.

  • Where would we find you when you’re not working?

Coaching junior sports or exploring Australia with my family.

  • What is your dream travel destination?

I am lucky to be well travelled – my previous military and sporting careers provided lots of opportunities. However, Tasmania is calling me back as I’ve only explored the West Coast.

  • What is one thing you cannot live without?

A comfy bed and a great night’s sleep as it gives the spring in my step.

  • What three things would you bring to a desert island?

A fishing net as food is very important to me, something to light a fire to cook the fish, and a hammock. As most desert islands are chock-full of trees, a hammock would be the perfect option for sleeping.

  • What is something you are looking forward to next year?

I am super excited to help lots of entrepreneurs grow their businesses during 2024 and our family is planning a trip to central Australia.
