Motivation

1 Important Step to Take Before Tying The Knot

Based on our own experiences and the experience of coaching many women toward financial independence, pre-marriage and post-divorce we advise that you initiate Money Conversations Early, Even If They’re Uncomfortable.

You don’t have to get into the deepest level of detail on the first date, but when it gets serious enough that you’re considering a long-term future, you can make it less awkward by prefacing your questions with statements that don’t feel judgmental.

Here are some questions you can use to open up the conversation with a more positive spin:

  • Are you saving up for anything special? Why is that important to you?
  • What’s your favourite thing to spend money on? What don’t you like to spend money on?
  • What did your family teach you about money?
  • Do you invest? Why do you like investing in that?
  • I sometimes worry about money. Is there anything in your money that worries you?
  • Debt can be really hard to deal with. What do you think about debt?

According to 29% of marriages today have both spouses earning about the same amount and 16% have a breadwinner wife. Yet a lot of women still leave financial decision-making to their husbands. Join our community today to get access to the tools and resources to help you plan your future.

Tips

Know Your Net Worth

Before you expect a potential partner to share the ins and outs of their finances with you, it’s in both your best interests to be clear about what yours look like by calculating your total net worth, keeping it in a secure location, and making regular updates.

What is net worth you ask? Sometimes called net wealth, one's net worth is used in the financial world to qualify certain individuals for particular investment strategies or financial products such as hedge funds, structured products, or other complex or alternative investments.

With these numbers readily available, both you and your partner can have more direct and fact-based money conversations about each of your unique situations and mix of accounts.

At Women Flix we help women every single day to take control of their finances and have the flexibility to live their lives as they wish. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you and your partner to live a happier and wealthier life.

Breaking News

In a notable shift, women are increasingly making waves in the traditionally male dominated realm of investments. Recent data indicates a signifcant uptick in women taking charge of their financial futures, contributing to a surge in female investors across various markets. Studies reveal a growing trend of women entering the investment arena, with a substantial increase in both novice and seasoned investors. This surge is attributed to various factors, including greater financial literacy, increased access to investment education, and a changing societal landscape that empowers women to take control of their financial destinities. As women continue to assert their presence in the investment landscape, our hope here at Women Flix is that this trend will not only persist but continue to inspire future generations.

Special dates

Here are some dates to celebrate, remember and empower each other this month:

1st March -31st March : Women’s History Month

On this day we celebrate the countless women who have fought tirelessly and courageously for equality, justice, and opportunity in our nation,

8th March: International Women’s Day

This is a day that is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

31st March: Easter Sunday

This is a religious Christian holiday that is observed globally and that is important for all of the Christian women in our community. Like Christmas it is important for women who celebrate this day to budget for it as it is known as a day where families spend money buying huge amounts of food to eat together and buying easter eggs to give their children.
