Welcome to the Spring edition of Leaders Lobby Loop!

The change of seasons to Spring here in Australia is often symbolises by fresh starts – a great time to consider a spring clean of your professional brand.

Can you say that 'Brand You' is authentic? By that I mean, does your brand reflects your values, passions and professional aspirations? If you're not sure, I have an exclusive subscriber offer for you – read on for more ...

Our leadership community continue to flourish as we help leaders and future leaders elevate their career. The Elevated Leaders Program is thriving with the Not-For-Profit (NFP) cohort over halfway through the 12-week program. There's an opportunity to partner with me to fund a NFP cohort in 2025. If you're ready to step into leadership, refresh your skills or support a team member with their leadership development – join the waitlist for 2025, details later in the newsletter.

As we ach the end of the season of renewal and head into the festive season, I encourage you to reflect on your 2024 journey – professionally and personally. Your path to becoming a stronger leader starts with small, intentional and consistent changes.

It's with sincere gratitude that I thank you for being part of the Leaders Lobby community. It has been an honour to serve and connect with you in 2024. Here's to your growth, our collaboration and forging elevated leadership pathways ahead into 2025.

How do you celebrate success?

I believe in celebrating achievements, no matter how big or small. When my clients share their success and breakthroughs with me, I want to jump out of my chair and high-five them – it takes all my will to not yell "woohoo".

Often, we go from one goal to another, or one milestone to another, without taking the time to acknowledge and appreciate our accomplishments. This is equally important for business owners and employees. A celebration doesn't have to be elaborate, but it needs to hold significance and meaning.

Recent Gartner research shows Australian employees rank lack of recognition as one of the top 10 reasons why they leave their job. Celebrating wins is great way to engage your team and build a winning workplace culture of trust. So, my question to you is: What is your ritual to celebrate a professional win? If you don't have one, my challenge to you is to create one. If you have one hit reply – I'd love to hear it.

In the spirit of walking the talk, I recently celebrated the 2nd birthday of my professional networking event: Leaders Lobby Perth. Since launching, it has become a go-to space for cross-industry networking and leadership insights. Here's some photos of the celebration.

Have you Googled yourself this year?

Type your name or business name in "quotation marks" to see what's being said about you. Conversations are happening about you in the digital world, you can choose to ignore it or proactively manage your professional brand to be authentically 'Brand You'. Building and maintaining an authentic brand means credibility and trust amongst your peers, colleagues and other contacts.

As a business owner, branding is about consistency and visibility – so you can serve others. When did you last update your website and social media? As an employee, your brand is about attracting values aligned opportunities. When did you last update your LinkedIn profile?

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself

  1. What are my core values?
  2. What am I passionate about?
  3. Is this authentically reflected in my professional brand?

We'll be talking about personal branding at the next Leaders Lobby Perth event on 4 December. I'll be joined by Dani Tamati Founder & Director from leading recruitment firm – THE resources HUB, to talk about how your brand and resume can make or break your next career move. Click here to buy your ticket.

Can't name your values? I'd love to gift you a free copy of my Values Finder Exercise. Click on this link to download in from my website.

Who's responsible for employee engagement?

During my recent chat on Curtin Radio, I spoke about Australian employee engagement and here are the truth bombs:

  • Only 25% of Australian employees are engaged at work
  • 64% are disengaged (quiet quitting)
  • 11% are actively disengaged (loud quitting).

Data from the Gallup State of the Global Workplace 2024 tells a compelling story about leaders and organisational cultures – 43% of employees intend to quit. ABS job mobility data ending Feb 2024 showed that 24% of professionals changed jobs in the past 12 months, with technicians and trades the next highest at 14%. Gartner.com released the top reason for people quitting – here are the top 5: (1) Manager quality (2) Compensation (3) Respect (4) Work-life balance (5) People management.

Here's what the research says about employee engagement

  • 2024 Gallup State of the Global Workplace Report showed that employees who receive personalised development through coaching, are the 3 times more likely to be engaged at work.
  • 2023 LinkedIn Workplace Learning Report highlights that 97% of employees would stay at a company longer if it invested in their development.
  • 2022 McKinsey Report Future proof: Solving the 'adaptability paradox' found that employees are more adaptive and resilient when they have access to ongoing coaching.

Boost employee retention with leadership coaching

By adding 1:to:1 coaching to your employee retention toolkit, you're showing employees your commitment to developing their potential – vital to your EVP. Training introduces new skills, but coaching provides a support system to adapt learned skills into the workplace – accountability is the key to results.

If you'd like to boost employees engagement, retention and support your high-performing and high-potential future leaders, email me to secure 1 of ONLY 2 retainers: liz@leaderslobby.com.au.
