🆕 What's New This Week 🆕

Anti-ransomware company Halcyon became the latest cyber startup to raise big, locking up a $100 million Series C led by Evolution Equity Partners that values it at $1 billion. The Austin, Texas-based startup says it has developed a platform that uses AI and ML trained on ransomware to reverse the effects of a ransomware attack.
There was no shortage of interesting startups that received funding this month. Among those that caught our attention: A company with an eyelash extension robot, and another working to fortify crops against the effects of climate change.
Just as the holiday season begins, a sleighful of companies unveiled large funding rounds. Of course, it was led by two well-known AI startups — including xAI, which had its second massive haul of cash in just six months.
📈 Emerging Trends 📈
Share prices for crypto-related companies have surged in recent weeks. That’s important because it means those companies may look more favorably upon using their stock in deals to make acquisitions.

Overall, the robotics sector has had a good venture funding year and is on pace to raise nearly $7.5 billion total in 2024. A closer look at some of the larger deals reveals that the robotics startups getting funding revolve around a common theme — and often have a common backer.
Quantum computing startups have already raised $1.5 billion in venture funding in 50 deals so far in 2024. That nearly doubles the $785 million raised last year in 67 deals, and surpasses the all-time high raised in 2022 of nearly $963 million in 77 deals.
