We’re the world’s most sustainable company – here’s how we did it

Welcome to the November issue of Power Up! Today, we're taking a deeper look into why we were recognized as the world’s most sustainable company, according to TIME Magazine and Statista. This tremendous achievement is the result of decades of transformative action, beginning in 2005 with a clear roadmap and governance framework. Importantly, we ensured our targets went well beyond decarbonization, encompassing energy efficiency, energy access, and gender equality.

To make their list, TIME and Statista began with a pool of over 5,000 of the world's largest companies. Following a rigorous four-stage assessment, they excluded unsustainable industries and considered factors like external sustainability ratings and commitments, corporate reporting practices, and environmental and social performance indicators. This produced a ranking of 500 companies from over 30 countries.

TIME and Statista highlighted our Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program as a key driver of our sustainability efforts. Through SSI, we've helped customers dramatically reduce their carbon emissions, with 553 million tons of CO2 saved and avoided since 2018 — while making clear progress in transforming our own supply chain. Carbon emissions from Schneider Electric's top 1,000 suppliers fell by 27% since the beginning of the program.

This proves that there are many definitions of sustainability. In the Nordics Schneider has left 300.000+ customers on a melting ice flake by discontinuing the smart house IHC hardware. Beside leaving customers with challenges that can to lead to catastrophic economic consequences it’s also from a sustainability view point as far from the concept of prolonging anyone can get.
