What AI can do for health equity
Incomplete data, lack of data entirely, and entrenched disparities have all contributed to inequality in health care across the country. Can AI be part of the solution? In a new episode of Mathematica's On the Evidence podcast, J.B. Wogan discusses with Ngan MacDonald .
"If you just use AI based upon data that has been collected traditionally in the past," says Ngan, who works for both Mathematica and Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine , "you amplify the disparity because it's basically projecting the same types of biases that have existed. Which is why when you think about how do we implement AI, it's got to be hand-in-hand with humans. Because we as humans, we're really good at imagining a better world."
