What is with all of the trees ? (Sustainability Basicz)

"Why all the trees ?" I was asked (given the number of images of trees that now pepper my posts):

The pictures I post are of trees I have meet ... and photographed ... and the photographing of those trees has several advantages for me:

(1) if planting one trillion trees will help us rebuild our environment ... maybe sharing thousands of images of trees will help raise awareness of this need ? (and that resonates deeply with me)

(2) trees are beautiful to look in their myriad of shapes, sizes, colors (and there are some intriguing scents to enjoy too)

(3) looking at trees gets my attention outwardly focused (which is better than where its sometimes found: inwardly focused ... on worries and concerns)

(4) in raising my awareness of trees it has highlighted how much I still have to learn about them ... its only in the last two centuries or so that we have grown increasingly dismissive of our relationship with our environment as to not take the time to enjoy what is around us and learn about our relationship with our environment

(5) it helps me develop my photography skills which I need for all sorts of reasons (thanks to Julian Mather for raising my awareness of this ... although I am pretty sure he didn't mention anything about taking photographs of trees specifically)

(6) the photos I share are mine and I am free to use (as are you)

(7) One of my mentors is well known for bacon (he gets bacon gifts and talks about bacon often) ... when I asked him "why all the bacon" he hinted that in part it gives people something to remember him / associate him with (at least that was my interpretation of what he said) ... so I think I have finally found what I am happy to have people associate me with: trees

(8) the images (and my habit of posting them) is a great conversation opener about sustainability ... and not just sustainability for the environment but sustainability in our lives. All aspects: in our business lives, in our relationships with our communities and with others ... and in our relationship with ourselves

(9) it excites conversation around the constant battle between The Culture of Sustainability (which is about the greatest good for all of us) versus The Culture of Greed (which is all about me)

(10) It's also about celebrating the trees as tomorrow there may be more of us and less of them to celebrate with
