- Despite our desire to have Green around us, we often find it challenging to manage plants and get discouraged. As a result, we give up the idea of a home garden with lovely plants. Following are the general problems in developing home gardens and rearing plants by ordinary people.
- When we buy plants, we often fail to make the proper selection. We should know which plant is suitable for our house. We must buy plants according to the availability of space and lighting conditions. Generally, what happens, we go to a plant seller or a nursery and buy whatever looks nice to us and place them in and around our house. The right approach would be first to identify the space available, and then we should research which plants would grow well in that location.
- Sometimes planting pots, containers, and planters are other problems. Broken and discolored pots generally create a shabby look. Quite often, plants outgrow the pots, exposing their complex and ugly-looking roots. Sometimes outgrown plants result in cracking and breaking of planters and pots.
- We often find that soil gets depleted from the pots due to draining, shrinkage, rain, and regular watering. Half-filled pots look ugly.
- Providing food and suitable fertilizers to plants are the most common problems. We do not understand which nutrients would be appropriate and how and when to apply them.
- The fungal attack is a common problem in house plants. It's due to overwatering in excess humidity in the atmosphere.
