What Got Us Talking This Year

What Got Us Talking This Year

Here at BCG, it was a year of great conversations with leaders across industries and topics. These five were some of our best, offering big ideas, new points of view, and optimism for what’s ahead.

Imagine This: “Seeing the World Through AI Glasses”

Our podcast “Imagine This…” takes you on a journey into the future, one that will challenge the way you think and act today. With the help of our cohost GENE, BCG’s conversational agent, we explore various disruptive scenarios likely to define the coming decades, helping leaders consider possible futures for our world—and their businesses.

CEO Moments of Truth: UPS’s Carol B. Tomé on the Power of Culture

A large part of the CEO’s job is grappling with tough strategic decisions. Those are also often the moments that provide the greatest learning experiences. In this video series, BCG’s CEO Christoph Schweizer talks to fellow chief executives about how they navigated some of their most challenging moments.

Here, Christoph chats with Carol B. Tomé about taking over as CEO of UPS just as the pandemic struck. She was facing disruption in nearly every corner of the business, but she chose to focus first and foremost on culture: defining a purpose for the firm and working with her leadership team to align on behaviors and values.

Unleash Innovation to Manage Costs

It’s a tricky balancing act: responding to cost pressures while continuing to invest in talent, sustainability, and digital excellence. How can business leaders fund innovation and growth when higher operating expenses are squeezing margins?

Businesses that secure short-term cost optimizations can shore up long-term competitive advantages, enabling them to explore opportunities and enhancements that will put them ahead.

Delivering on Sustainable Development Goals

The future of global health and agriculture is bright, fueled by innovative solutions that can drive meaningful change. In this video, BCG’s Jim Larson speaks with Ankur Vora of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to discuss how cutting-edge technologies can reshape our approach to some of the world's most pressing challenges.

As we look ahead, it’s clear that embracing these innovations is not just a necessity—it’s an opportunity for sustainable growth and lasting impact.

The So What from BCG: “Prepared to Pounce—Why CEOs Should Always Be Ready for M&A”

“The So What from BCG” is a podcast series that looks at today’s biggest business and social issues and their effect on organizations, both now and in the future. The goal—the “so what”—is to make sense of the moment and prepare busy leaders and executives for the day after tomorrow.

In this episode, award-winning journalist Georgie Frost interviews Daniel Friedman, BCG’s global leader of transactions and integrations. More than half of M&A deals fail, Friedman says, while winning plays—including a clear plan, a thoughtful choice of targets, and strong teamwork—can deliver five times the average payoff.

The UPS interview makes me smile/not-smile. Despite the 'green dot focus', it remains a business with 92% 1-star Trustpilot reviews. Horrifically frustrating business. I'm not the only one to endure terrible customer service first-hand. My advice: Start fixing the basics.
