What happens after the interview?

Getting interviews but no follow-ups? Some of my clients are not hearing back after their interviews. Maybe you need to follow up with a different kind of email.

Here are some tips on what to include in your follow-up after the interview.

1) Thank the interviewer for the opportunity and reiterate your interest in the position.

2) Mention at least one thing you learned about the company, its product or service and how you can help.

3) Overcome any objections or give a better answer to a question you feel you did not answer as well as you could have.

4) Reiterate your key skills that relate to the job. Reiterate one or two specific accomplishments that relate to the job.

5) End your email with enthusiasm for the job and say you look forward to the next steps in the process.

Remember: Follow up with each person who interviewed you. Write a separate email to each one, not a mass email. Don't be afraid to repeat things you said during the interview that highlight your skills and what you can do for the company.
