What impact will new EV charging and battery innovations have on EV uptake?

With many OEMs offering at least one all-electric option in their vehicle line-ups, and while adoption rates continue to increase rapidly, EVs are now becoming a more integral part of the global automotive landscape. In anticipation of oncoming government emissions targets designed to accelerate EV uptake, OEMs are now beginning to shift their attention towards two key areas of the EV lifecycle – battery technologies and charging infrastructure.

Some are already investigating new battery innovations, such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and solid-state batteries, while others are striking new partnerships with charge point operators (CPOs), energy providers, food and beverage companies and more to advance their public and private charging solutions. With these technologies already playing key roles across the EV lifecycle, OEMs looking to elevate the customer experience of their own EVs must be equipped with strategies that recognize their significance and deliver continuous innovation.

In this article, we will be taking a deep dive into two of our recently updated research reports that offer deep, expert insights into both of these technologies - our EV Charging & Infrastructure Guide, and the EV Battery Technologies & Ecosystem report. While outlining the contents of both reports, and highlighting the key benefits of each one, we will also explore the new features provided in their 2024 editions.

217 - EV Charging & Infrastructure Guide

As EV adoption rates continue to grow, OEMs are extending the scope and scale of their EV line-ups while governments roll out more incentives to entice consumers looking to switch to an EV. Today, these movements are now impacting the commercial sector, where fleet managers and service operators are making the switch, leading to a renewed interest in the build-up of EV charging networks. However, the ecosystem surrounding these networks and EV charging infrastructure is growing rapidly, becoming more complex in the process.
