What is the most precious gift one can give?
There are so many precious gifts one can give to their loved ones are your presence with them and the unconditional love, your undivided attention, and the quality time and of course these things are very meaningful and although one may not be able to immediate appreciate their immediate value, it is much more meaningful that gold or diamonds. For example, if someone were to take a day off of work and spend the time with their loved ones, their loved ones would appreciate it much more than some jewelry, clothing, or money.
Giving these three gifts to someone means that you truly care for them, and they know you’re not trying to just put them off with some simple material gifts. Plus, you’d be creating new and precious memories with that person,. Although it may not seem like it, the time we get to spend with any person is limited, and they would greatly appreciate it if that time is spent creating memories together.
Obviously the most precious for any one is by far the creation of another human being i.e. our own child but that doesn’t mean it is something everyone should be giving and that human being is of course worth a lot more than being just a gift! Spending a life-time with someone that you aren’t related to, well that is the tough part and is thus also a very precious gift. Especially the hard times or moments, in which you think for even one split-second, that you may have done a mistake by marrying / joining life with that person, if you pass those with no harm and yet continue to give yourself, well then it becomes a gift.
Another precious gift one can give is pure friendship. Genuine Friendship! In these times having a friend who doesn't judge, criticize, talk behind your back or do anything that would harm us or our reputation is priceless. A friend will listen intensely, offering advise and suggestions however they do not insist it be done his/her way. A true friend is someone you can trust with you inner most private issues and thoughts. They do not “patronize” us nor do we them and our relationship is always a mutual one with bonding lasting forever.
When we realize how powerful we are, we don’t doubt the gift of our presence. By resting more fully into our deeper inner self, we can rest more fully in the conversation. Spaciousness is created in the conversation that supports authenticity to arise and comfort to be felt. The safety of our loving presence invites it. The next time you feel the urge to do in conversation, take a deep breath and trust your presence is enough. Simply sit back and listen, and make it ok to be still and silent. You may enjoy the conversation more, and discover more about who you are speaking with.
“Deep listening is miraculous for both listener and speaker. When someone receives us with open-hearted, non-judging, intensely interested listening, our spirits expand.” Sue Patton Thoele. This beautiful quote inspired me to think that one precious gift we could give some one is out patient listening to them. Consider you visit an old age home where you find many elders are sitting alone and feeling lonely. When I worked for a Senior Citizen Day Care Centre I could recollect each of them wanted me to hear their stories and I remember that when I listened to their own life stories patiently they used to feel so happy and their smile was my best gift and my listening to them without a break for hours was my precious gift to them. Try this one out when you get an opportunity, as the elders have their own style of telling their stories and talk about good old days when they used to be younger and you feel so good that you could give them your precious time and patient hearing. Stay blessed! #kishoreshintre #possessedbywritingspirit
