What Real Estate Agents Need To Do To Thrive With The Coming Changes
Few people think about buying and selling a home unless they are doing it. When that time comes, they’re confronted with finding a home to buy, selling their current home, timeline, what they can afford, the cost of a mortgage, current home value along with about a thousand other big-ticket and important items. This is when they pick up a phone and call a local real estate agent. Recent court decisions have upended and changed this process forever. I’ve read that some long time agents are considering leaving the profession for greener pastures.
A popular Disney theme ride starts with the phrase “Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here.” I don’t believe the changes in real estate are anything this severe or should lead to changing professions. How real estate agents market themselves and present themselves moving forward will matter more than ever. My favorite question in marketing is “Why should I use you over ever other option?” Too frequently the answer is silence or a word salad. Phrases like I care, I give great customer service, I listen or my favorite phrase I am the low-cost provider are word pablum. These are what almost everyone says. If everyone says it, then it applies to no one.
There are 54,000 real estate agents in Arizona and 204,000 in California. What makes one stand out over the rest? The ones that stand out must be special. Instead of saying “I Care” what if you introduced yourself as “I’m John Smith. I’ve been a professional real estate agent for 12 years and I help families purchase the prefect home so they have a place for their life to happen. I only help people who are willing to be an active participant in the process from start to finish and are willing to actively communicate their wants and needs. I’d love to help you find and own a home you will love.” A great way to end that conversation would be handing 40 printed testimonial letters from past clients as opposed to having them scan a QR code and sending them to a website they may never look at. Control what you can control! Be memorable!

I’m considering putting on a free two hour in person marketing event in the near future for real estate agents along with anyone else looking to create an edge in the marketplace. You interested? Email me at steve@assaultmarketing.com and put “I’m in” in the subject line. You need to get ahead of this.
My name is Steven Clauson. I coach people who want help getting where they want to be. The people I coach are typically already taking action, getting results and ask what’s next and what actions to take to make an even greater impact. They aren't afraid to ask for help. How can I help you? What actions are you taking? Those who have a plan and implement that plan lead the pack. Planning, preparing to win and taking appropriate action means you hear the word "YES" more than ever. Only if you are one of the few willing to take action, do what's required and play full out are you likely to hear the word yes more often. People hearing the word "YES" are winners on the playing field because they play full out and dominate. For these people results matter. Tired of results less than you know you can produce?
