What the secret sauce to getting hired? We are Roo Resumes

As many Graduate professionals in Australia seeking to embark on your first role, it is key to understand how the back office system works.

How do Recruitment Tracking Systems work in Australia and what really goes on behind the scenes in HR?

Why do you get disregarded for roles you are actually qualified to do?

We have all been there and I know, as it can drive you crazy!

Where do you even start with writing a Resume, or a Cover letter, and does LinkedIn really get you hired?

Remember, as well as any paid work that you have initially embarked on within your career, you should try and make sure you get some client facing or customer service employment first.

Or indeed, you could find some voluntary work to fill in the gaps instead? Having worked as a volunteer many times, I have found this is a great way to give back and advocate for the charities you are passionate about.

Most people will have between five and ten main skills listed on a Resume, maybe more, but make sure when adding your skills section it actually matches the employer brief.

Sometimes, just writing down skills as a buzz word is enough, however, in technical based roles, employers seek more detail. If you're unsure of which skills to add to your professional CV or Resume, here are some of the most important ones you could include.

·        Communication and Business Engagement;

·        Customer Service;

·        Relationship ;

·        Leadership;

·        Operation Management;

·        Creative Thinking, Analytical or Problem-Solving Skills.

Your professional Resume should ideally have a statement that will immediately stands out to an employer or a recruiters eye.

This response if written right will stand out in the first few seconds.

You really should capture the target audience that you have in mind. Maybe take a moment to have a think about the industry sector or sectors that you really want to work on and research this first in terms of what skills that employer seeks, or role.

Ask yourself, what are your personal work goals? Where are you seeking to be with this employer in the next 2- 5 years and beyond? where might the role progress?
