What Should Every Tech Company Focus on When Expanding into the Booming Asia-Pacific Region?

Global expansion has become a vital element of any corporate growth strategy in today's competitive business environment.

APAC, in particular, is especially attractive for a variety of reasons, including their fast growing economy and population, coupled with a very business friendly environment. This makes for an alluring set of reasons to look at APAC when your business is positioned for such a strategic expansion. Here are a few core essentials any tech company should focus on when considering expanding to another country.

  • It is critical to recognize and account for differences between countries and regions, especially when doing business.
  • You must also study the local market to know its size, challenges, competitors, and where your product can fit in.
  • Answer the question: which of your products would sell well on a global scale and will you need to modify it in order to fit the APAC market?
  • When exploring the specific country or region, cultural and linguistic barriers should be considered, as well as special incentives offered in different Asian Pacific countries, before creating a detailed business strategy.
  • The cost of expanding the company so that entering new markets does not strain your finances.

This is not a comprehensive list by any means. Hopefully, one thing is clear, make sure you do your due diligence and establish relationships with an advisor on the ground with deep APAC expertise. Between expert APAC advisors who will provide you with the information you need, and making data-driven decisions on whether to expand into APAC or not, one of the keys to successful business setup in APAC is in how well you are armed with the right resources and information to make the right decisions for your company as you navigate the question on APAC expansion.
