What story do we tell ourselves when we feel stuck in our career? 🤯
There are six professional situations that present current challenges in terms of career management, which you might be facing right now! 💡
1. WHAT IS THE MEANING?
You often ask yourself this because you are seeking a new kind of reward and satisfaction... Perhaps the fulfillment you seek now comes from a strong desire to help others in need. Personally, I went through this stage more than 12 years ago, and although I had built a career in the corporate world with a global footprint, I felt increasingly that my path was outside that world. Today, I coach other professionals in search of... meaning, and I have learned that once this type of inner struggle begins, nothing can stop it, but we must accept that there are no recipes here and that everyone brings change to their own career at their own pace. For many experienced leaders, "What is the meaning?" gradually turns into a quest for Legacy – a lasting legacy that withstands the test of time.
2. I AM TIRED OF DOING THE SAME THING BUT STILL NEED TO MAKE MONEY!
You are successful in your work, have an admirable benefits package, you are satisfied with your annual earnings, but cannot imagine holding the same job in a few years... From my experience as a career transition coach, I have observed that especially women, after maternity leave, for example, often make bold career changes that better accommodate their new role as mothers and professionals. I have many examples of radical career changes or transitions to entrepreneurship which, although they did not bring the same income, brought more balance and passion for the work and role they embraced.
3. HURT AND HESITANT
Are you suffering? Are you a victim of a job change? Perhaps you were suddenly laid off, or you were a victim of discrimination at work? All these unwanted events can make you hesitant, shake your professional confidence, make you ruminate and question what you did wrong, what if... They make you view any employer's offer with great distrust and hesitation. I have met very good professionals who, when taken by surprise by a layoff, massively wavered internally and decided to become their own employers.
4. BORED AND STAGNANT?
Many professionals have worked hard in their current roles and at some point have become exhausted, feeling the need to just make a change. If the organization does not timely identify this need and does not come up with interesting options within the organization – most often these talents are lost to the outside.
5. I WANT TO BE ON MY OWN!
How many of you have allowed yourself to flirt with the idea of entrepreneurship or at least freelancing? Is there an entrepreneurial potential within you that you carry but have not yet truly given yourself the chance to exploit properly? Do not back down because, my dears, there comes a unique moment in your career when you are ready for entrepreneurship, and if you miss it, remember from me, you can always get a job! Be brave!
6. ON THE BRINK OF RETIREMENT
I know, for some, retirement is an objective in itself, for others, it is a reason for depression... If the idea of disconnecting suddenly from professional life scares you, then perhaps you will have a progressive disconnection, continuing to remain relevant and helping in temporary or part-time roles.
💡💡 So, in which professional situation are you now, and what story are you telling yourself to name this stagnation? To unlock your current situation, it is helpful to follow these steps:
1. Self-assessment – Strengthening the foundation! Who am I today as a professional? What are my success stories and achievements? What value can I bring to any organization/community? What are my strengths? And the opportunities?

2. Inventory of self-saboteurs. How do I sabotage myself in achieving my career goals? How can I make friends with my self-saboteurs? (read Lisa Lahey – Immunity to Change.) How can I better leverage my opportunities?
3. Create an Action Plan! Simple, one that you believe in. A plan made by you for you, not by others as they think you should evolve professionally!
4. Seek a career transition coach. As a Certified Personal Branding Strategist and Career Transition Coach, I have helped hundreds of professionals to take the necessary steps to find themselves on their path again, with meaning and passion!
Sometimes in your career, you anticipate your destination and find meaning by being on your path. Other times, you find passion in seeking your destination – no matter your path, the passion and motivation with which you make things become reality are essential! Money and success are just welcome side consequences.
Good luck on Your Path!
