What is transformation?
Lately, transformation could be considered a day that I am not secretly wearing joggers. It could also be the number of kgs I’ve put on during this pandemic. More recently (and more relevant to the water sector), the topic of transformation has fallen under the spotlight, specifically ‘transformational innovation’. The term has been sliced, diced, thrown around and soon to be stress tested in the shape of a sector led strategy. (password will be removed when officially published).
Covering seven major themes from ‘providing clean water for all’ to ‘protecting and enhancing natural systems’, the sector strategy aims to help shape the future of water in the UK. It covers the who, what, where, why and how of transformational innovation. It will be one of the main mechanisms on which the Ofwat innovation fund will be based, aiming to fast-track innovation and collaborative working whilst eliminating any barriers in the process.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts upon its publication later today. The more people that buy into it, challenge it, critique it, the better it will become. This isn’t a strategy that should be viewed as something that is being done to the sector, it is a strategy that has been built by the sector, so please do submit your views through its feedback form.
Separately, it would be fantastic to also hear your ideas for what you deem to be transformative, weight gain aside.
