What You Imagine, You Can Create!

The starting point of all things …

Have you ever heard the saying that “We (humans) are more powerful than we realize!” 

I love the concept, but what is it that makes us so powerful? 

Well, one uniquely human trait that separates us from potentially all other living things is imagination. This is our ability to picture things in our mind. This is the source of our creativity. 

We all have an imagination, but some have developed it more than others. Funny thing is that we all probably used our imagination a lot as a child. But life has a way of beating it out of us over the years to the point that it sits dormant in many people. 

Here is the sad thing about this. Our imagination is an important key, a critical skill, to a fulfilled life. It is impossible for anyone to create the dream life if they do not actively use their imagination. 

Let’s put this into perspective. All things are created at least twice. The first creation happens in the mind when someone uses their imagination to “see” something they would like to see, do, or have. The second creation happens when they take action to physically create the “thing.” But without the first creation, the imagination, nothing ever gets created. 

Like I mentioned earlier, “We are more powerful than we realize.” But the power lies in our learning to use our imagination to create a life that we want for ourselves, our family, our company, our community, or our world. 

Here are a few classic examples of how people have used their imagination …

•  Asa Chandler turned a pot, a stick, and a recipe into Coca-Cola
• Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created Apple
• Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook
• Jeff Bezos created Amazon
• Truett Cathy created Chick-fil-a
• Sam Walton created Walmart and Sam’s Warehouse

Maybe you don’t have a desire to create the next Apple Computer or the next Amazon type website. But what are you doing to create your life, develop your business, improve your community?   

Napoleon Hill wrote in 1937, “It has been said that man can create anything which he imagines.” We all have the innate skill, but it is up to each of us to develop it and use it to create what we want in our lives. 

If you would like to learn more about how you can use your imagination, I suggest getting a copy of Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich. It is a timeless book that shares many principles that can help you achieve the life you desire. Studying a book like Think and Grow Rich can truly change your life. But this is not a book that is meant to be read once; it is meant to be studied over a lifetime. To become the master of your own destiny requires you to grow and mature over time. The success you want won’t happen without a consistent effort on your part.
