What you need to know about The Massillon Ohio Cruise-In & Music Festival
For a very long time, The Cruise-On-In & Dance Party has been a staple event in Massillon, Ohio, drawing car enthusiasts and fireworks enthusiasts alike. However, with the departure of its longtime planner and organizer, the city has recognized the challenge of maintaining the event's former glory.
But Massillon is up to the challenge. The event is making a comeback with a new name and exciting features. This year, The Massillon Cruise-in & Music Festival is set to revitalize downtown Massillon on June 8th, 2024, marking the return of a beloved warm-weather tradition -- minus the fireworks.
According to his statements to The Canton Repository, The Mayor of Massillon Jamie Slutz expressed enthusiasm about welcoming back this cherished event, stating, "This (new) show is a good way to kick off the summer season. We're happy to bring back something the people enjoy." Scheduled to run from noon to 9 p.m., the festival promises a day filled with classic cars, nostalgic live music, and delicious food.
The Massillon community eagerly anticipates its return, recognizing its significance as one of Ohio's largest car shows. Debbie Busby, President of the Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce, recently spoke to The Repository and emphasized the event's importance as a boost for the city.
Formerly drawing thousands of enthusiasts, the festival will transform downtown Massillon into a hub of excitement. While the previous iteration featured fireworks, this year's event will showcase a different type of fireworks with three live music acts, including New Wave Nation and the Jimmie Jack Band, offering a journey through the sounds of the 1980s and 1990s.
