What are you struggling with?

What are you struggling with?

Where has the year gone?

I can’t quite believe we’re in December and I’m able to conclude the newsletter with ‘Festive Greetings’. I hope it’s not come as much of a surprise for you as it has me!

One benefit of my Landscaping Your Life YouTube tidy and relaunch, which I mentioned in the last newsletter, is that I’ve had to get clearer at articulating what I do. This has resulted in two playlists of playlists on the home page that ask one of two questions:

·       What are you struggling with at the moment? and

·       Why not try these unique ways of solving problems?

In this newsletter, therefore, I thought I’d highlight one key video (of less than a minute) from each of the playlists included under each of these headings – not least because when you’re next struggling with a problem you can pop back here and pick a video to help (or send it to someone who know is struggling.)

The playlists

What are you struggling with at the moment?

With playlists providing insight when you are struggling with

·       Stress, Overwhelm and Anxiety

·       Goals

·       Decision Making

·       Change

·       Mindset, Motivation & Wellbeing

·       Relationships

Why not try these unique ways of solving problems?

Where the playlists include:

·       Using Metaphor

·       Using Nature

·       Listening to Poems

·       Going for a Walk

·       Using problem solving techniques

I’m finding these lists very motivating as they remind me about EVERYTHING I’m passionate about - do let me know if there are any specific topics you’d like me to cover in 2025.

The highlights

Here is my top highlight from each of these 11 topics – with an average of 1-minute duration being my aim.

Stress, Overwhelm and Anxiety

How to put the stick down you’re beating yourself up with – it needs an update to add new insight and yet the original still makes the point very well.

Goals

Are you being half-hearted reminds you that half a path is of no use whatsoever other than to deplete your energy.

Decision Making

This video from 13 years ago reminds you about the repercussions of allowing doubt to fuel the procrastination (thankfully my new mic stops any wind noise for new videos).

Change

My most viewed and favourite video from 11 years ago is this one which invites you to step out of your comfort zone (please note - turn your sound down a little first as the laughter at the start is very 'Alison-y').

Mindset, Motivation & Wellbeing

With the festive season upon us, I think this reminder to celebrate small wins feels apt.

Relationships

Despite the smaller number to choose from in this playlist they’re all GREAT and I could have shared many of the videos. This video, however, demonstrates something I share with every client, and on every workshop too and changed every one of my relationships 24 years ago.

Use of Metaphor

I have so many ideas of how to bring these alive in videos on YT I’m therefore sure this playlist will get added to – this poem about Talking to the brick wall is one of my favourites and much loved on a workshop last year.

Using Nature

Oh my - where to start …..I think a recent and much viewed and liked video was Drawing your problem as a mountain but at 6 minutes it would have brought the average beyond the minute I promised. So instead, I’ll share the poem written on the subject and shared this week.

Listening to Poems

This does feel like I’m being asked which is my favourite child with paths and destinations, I reclaim all my parts, and what is normal comes close second, third and forth – with their longer length being the reason for their exclusion. Instead, the choice goes to Letting go a much-viewed and liked short I posted recently.

Going for a Walk

In 2025 I’ll be taking problems on a walk and will aim to record shorter length videos than my recent ‘taking a goal on a walk’ which came out at 15 minutes. It did, however, generate a number of shorts with this The 5th reason you don’t achieve your goals being a common theme in coaching sessions.

Using problem-solving techniques

Drawing, walking, nature and poetry all feature in this playlist with this video demonstrating both nature and poetry as a means of seeing problems differently.

Do let me know what resonated the most for you.

With festive greetings,

Alison x

Do remember that either of my published books would make a great gift – with Can’t see the wood for trees being a perfect reference guide for coaches and, as I realised in a recent goal setting video, the Your Prescription for Wellbeing Journal is ideal for summarising the perfect prescription for achieving ANY goal.
