📣 What Is Your Personal Bio And Why You Need Different Options At Clicks Reach

Your personal bio or “biography” is a concise introduction that provides a summarised version of your personal, business and professional achievements, your credentials and education, and other information that makes you who you are.

If you are a business owner or leader in an organisation who want’s to grow their reputation and ultimately increase your income you need to build your network, your visibility and share your story and insights. This is usually done through your personal online channels such as your website and your social media, through network building online and in-person and through speaking or facilitating engagements.

Each of the above platforms, will require you to share your personal bio, however, not every bio is the same.

🤓 Personal Bios

Your personal bio is used in many places and because of this, it is great to have a few different types of bios at arms reach. We recommend having a well-written professional or business bio as well as a personal story or journey overview. This is the bio you would use on your LinkedIn profile, on your website, in your speaker one-sheet and supplied to anyone booking you to speak. These are usually written in the third person ie. she/her, he/him, they/them

😊 Personal Intro

Your personal intro (introduction) is used to introduce you to an audience, this can be in person or online. These are usually used by the MC or the host, however, it can also be used when you introduce yourself. The intro should be a bit more fun than the personal bio and usually ends with something like “please welcome ‘YOUR NAME’”. It is important to have a personal intro ready to share so that you are always introduced the way you want to be, not the way someone else wants to introduce you. It is important to have different lengths of your intro, long (250 words), medium (150 words) and short (50 words).

😎 Podcast/Speaker Application

Speaking engagements and podcast interviews are a great way of building your visibility with someone else’s network. In order to be engaged, for the most part, you need to apply. This application requires more info. Your bio, your topics, your social media followers and email database, a professional photo, and your contact details. Having these up-to-date and easily accessible makes it quick and easy to apply.

😀 Social Media Group Intro

If are part of any Facebook or LinkedIn groups you will know that when you first join them, the group leaders/admin will encourage you to introduce yourself. This gives you the perfect opportunity to be visible in the group, to pitch who you are, what you do and share your details. It is important to be grateful for the opportunity to share, to say hello to the other group members and showcase your personality as well as your expertise.

🤩 Post Networking Event Intro

After you have attended an event with someone, either online or in person is the perfect time to connect with them. You can connect on socials, via email and even send a text. To make this process easier, it is important to have an “post networking intro template” something that start with “It was great to meet you at ‘X’ Event” or “We were both at ‘X’ Event” “and I would love to connect here”. Then share a very short overview of who you are and what you do.

Conclusion

Once you have written these different introductions/bios keep them somewhere easy to reach. I keep mine in the Notes section on my phone and have them uploaded to Google Drive so that my team also has access to them. For the most part, it is easier and quicker to share pre-written information. It also makes you seem very organised when someone requests your info and when you can reach out and connect with others quickly.

Don’t forget to comment, like, and share.
