What Your Relationship with Money Says About You

What Your Relationship with Money Says About You

Your relationship with money dictates how much of it you can attract.

Today, let’s talk about your relationship with money and how you can make it better.

Understanding your relationship with money

First, what is your mindset about money? You can’t understand something if you don’t know what it is you need to understand.

You may think that money is evil or good but the truth is money is neutral. It is the person who is handling the money that makes it evil or good.

We think this way because this is how society taught us how to see money.

But if you look the other way, money can also be used for good like charities.

Although we attach too many emotions to money and in return, we affect our response to it. And since we have these attachments, we already created money blocks for ourselves.

Now how do we get rid of that?

Your circle of influence and your relationship with money

Psychology Today says how you respond to money is the sum of all your experiences.

Your money mindset is the result of years of conditioning from other people’s traumas and beliefs around money. This from growing up around your family and seeing how they deal with money.

Your views about abundance and how you create money is also affected by the circles outside your family.

We are taught that money is power, money is evil, that you only deserve money if you work hard for it. But these are all wrong, and these mindsets just creates a harder time for us to have a good relationship with money.

How to change your relationship with money

Having a good relationship with money means you spend it based on what’s valuable to you.

You pay your bills on time. You have little or reasonable debt. You save money to meet your goals, and you have money in the bank for an emergency fund.

You also think of money as energy which flows into other things. You don’t keep the money to yourself. Instead, you move it around by providing opportunities for others or investing it.

While there are people who already do this, the good news is, you can too.

Here are a few ways on how to change your relationship with money:

  1. Be aware of the things you want to change: Are you guilty about earning money? Change that.
  2. Reframe how you think about money: Money is neutral. Remove any negative connotations you have around it.
  3. Track your expenses: Just because we have money, doesn’t mean we can spend it all. Spend on what is valuable to you.
  4. Forgive and be grateful: Relationships with money isn’t an easy process. Be grateful for what you have and forgive yourself if you fail in this relationship from time to time.
  5. Get help: There are a lot of coaches and advisors out there. They will make this process easier for you.

You can start your life with a different mindset, but you can always make a change with your relationship with money.
