What is your 'third workplace'?
Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter which will highlight one LinkedIn trending topic per day curated and cultivated by a LinkedIn News editor, as well as the conversations happening around it.
This newsletter will go on a two-week hiatus as I'm going on vacation. See you back here Monday, July 12.
There's a place between the office and your kitchen table.
With more bosses letting people work from home more often, laptop-strapped workers will be hunting for so-called "third workplaces" like cafes, libraries, shared office spaces, hotels and even camper vans to get some work done. I have to say that I am kind of a pioneer of this third space. I have worked from beach bars in Greece, hostels in Colombia, trains in Japan and even ski lodge restaurants on the slopes of Switzerland. I even have a holy trinity of cafes I like to switch between on any given day in Brooklyn.
Yes, it's a bit stressful. But would I rather have been at my desk? Probably not.
It's no surprise that these spaces will become even more of a haven for workers, particularly given that home isn't always so easy and quiet. It also allows for a chance of pace and to see some new faces during the day.
The LinkedIn News team created this conversation around the topic. Have a look and leave your comment.
Here's what a few people are saying about it.

3yThe 3rd workplace is really not new in particular in Asia where often apartments are smaller. Mine is a cafe or was pre Covid. Good times, I like the noise bustle and people watching, bizarrely helps me focus.
