What's Better?

One of the questions I get a lot is "which is better the Vortex Optics Razor Gen 3 1-10x or the Nightforce Optics 1-8 ATACR"

Before I start, please know that I am not a guitar person. I don't play but I love music.

Gibson J-45

With a bit of research, I settled on comparing the Martin D-28 and the Gibson J-45. Both of these guitar's retail for around $3,000 and are both legends.

Martin D-28

Without going into the feature list which, for me means nothing since I don't play, they both meet my requirements of being high-end acoustic guitars.

What I do know is, these two guitars play different. While they are both all wood and have 6 strings, they play and feel with enough tangible differences that an artist will prefer one over the other based on how they integrate with it, type of music they play and the audience they play to.

If that artist is successful, those differences become more important than the guy who plays on the porch. If asked, odds are high that they wouldn't be able to articulate the differences and would just say they prefer one over the other based on what they are doing currently. No two artists are alike and even playing the same the same riffs of the same song, those differences will matter particularly to the artist. When pressed, people accept the answer of "It feels better to me."

All that being said, for Quantified Performance, LLC matches, currently the Vortex feels better to me. It's not quantifiable but much like the Artists mentioned above, that feel is important for performances. It will be different for you. Both are excellent optics and I highly recommend and run both. Oh, and just for transparency, both optics were sent by the manufacturer for posts just like this.

I'm a big fan of nightforce.

Love this, particularly your analogy to musical instruments. Merry Christmas!

They’re both good at what they do. It really comes down to the shooter and their eyes, what you’re doing behind the gun, and how you’re shooting. The article was a super read!
