What's the market telling us?

What's the market telling us?

August // Issue 4

Hello! It's been a hot minute!

It's been an interesting month for the Vivid team. We've had one member working from the UK and sneaking in a bit of family holiday time in between for what seemed like an eternity. (Good to have you back, Lee!). 😉

We've noticed the market shifting. Engineering, as always, is still a candidate short market. We have seen some positive signs in the design space, and everyone is hoping for projects to flow through for the rest of the year.

Redundancies, unfortunately, are still part of life (see our post below).

But we are optimistic. Interiors are on the rise, high-end residential remains intact. Interest in the Queensland market is increasing, too, with healthcare and corrections going for gold (or is that a reference to infrastructure needed for the 2032 Olympics 🤔).

In any case, we are heading out of winter and things are looking so much brighter on the horizon. Or at least, that's what we think.

Vivid Blog // Redundancy - it's not a dirty word!

Redundancies are an unpleasant reality for many people in today's market. The experience of being laid off can be intimidating, gut-wrenching and just plain sh*t... regardless of the reason behind it—economic downturns, corporate reorganisations, blah blah.

It's crucial to keep in mind that while this may be an emotionally charged moment time, it has nothing to do with you personally and is primarily driven by business decisions.

Repeat after us... "It's not me!" So try not to take this to heart.

Nick Koop—our Director and Engineering Principal Recruiter but also blog writer extraordinaire—recently penned this post for those who find themselves in the market again after a redundancy.

It's a little ripper. And, of course, if you're looking for advice, get in touch. We have loads of experience in this. We are always here to help, lend an ear and get you back on the horse.
