What's most important for you!
As a acquisition professional I interview people, A LOT of people. I'd like to think I have interviewing down to a science, however, we as recruiters are always learning and sharpening our craft. Why? Because we have to. From phone interviews to in-house visits, no two interviews are ever the same. No matter how "structured" your internal processes are, you can bet 100% of the time that something unique will occur. With all of the uncertainty within an interview you must find a commonality - for me it's my questioning.
Sure, I have several questions that I use in each interview - all important in their own right. However, I feel there is one key question that has always been my crutch for critical decision-making on whether or not a candidate is the right fit for the position/organization. The question is... From both a personal and professional perspective, what's most important to you in finding your next job opportunity? Simple, yet sophisticated. It allows the interviewee to internally process what is most critical to them and it allows me as the recruiter a great look into what truly drives them (personally and professionally) and aids me in determining their fit within the organization. Whether it's money, recognition, personal growth or work/life balance - every candidate situation is unique! I figured I'd share this question as I've never been asked it on an interview and thought it was worth sharing.
So there you have it... my long-winded message around "what's most important to you in your next job?" and why you should be thinking about it.
