What's New With GenZ?

This week on What's New With Zoomers we are looking at some stories that paint GenZ as listless slackers. There are 10 Million young adults on the ScholarshipOwl platform who say otherwise. Let's look at some stories we gave the side-eye to that don't show the whole picture.

NEETS - According to CNBC, "NEETS" are Zoomers who neither go to school nor work. What it doesn't mention is tuition is higher, student loan interest rates are higher, wages don't match the cost of living, and hiring managers often feel young Zoomers are unmanageable. Companies like ZipRecruiter and the US Navy came to ShcholarshipOwl as a recruitment marketing resource because they understand in actuality this is a vibrant, smart, passionate group of people to work with.

Is GenZ averse to work?

Lack Of Motivation - ChipChick reports many teen Zoomers are uninspired in class. Wait - you're telling me some kids don't like school? GASP! (clutches pearls). Are we serious here? This has nothing to do with when they were born. School can be boring and often teaches nothing about how to land a job, change a tire, invest, or balance your budget - you know - stuff you NEED after graduation.

Since when are bored students "news/"

Fraud - Yahoo Finance is claiming that 20-somethings are con artists. They say 42% of young people are ok with committing financial fraud considering the economy. We know tech has allowed online crime to flourish but the data comes from a company that works in cybercrime security. HARDLY an unbiased source. And the truth is that they are only saying they are OK with it. Not that they have a grand plan to hack into your retirement account.

Are Zoomers hacking your bank account?
