What's Your Christmas Day Outfit?

I hope you have the most incredible Christmas and festive period, and wanted to thank you for allowing me to drop into your inbox every week. I love having you as part of my style community and can't wait for an exciting 2025!

I loved the quote from thredUP who shared that if we all bought one preloved item instead of new this year, it would save the equivalent CO2 of 56 million cars being off the road for one day! 😳 it makes you realise the impact of your choices!

Will you be wearing something you’ve already got in your wardrobe on Christmas Day this year or buying something new you might only wear once?!

Instead of rushing out for something new, why not explore the incredible pieces you already own?

One of the highlights of working through your wardrobe edit with me is the benefit of having a fresh pair of expert eyes to create a catalogue of new outfits (on average minimum of 20 looks!). Outfits which will not only be relevant to the trends, but more importantly, unique to your individual style personality.

You’ll also learn what works to fit and flatter your body shape and say goodbye to any items which no longer serve you. So you can use your style to shape your success, rather than hold you back. If you'd love to treat (or be treated to!) a Wardrobe Edit or other styling experience in 2025, check out my gift vouchers available on the link HERE. It's a beautiful confidence boosting gift experience which will last long after the chocolates have been eaten!

The Gen Z dilemma: eco-conscious but addicted to fast fashion

This article discusses the well-known ‘intention-behaviour gap’: the difference between what consumers want to do (in this case, buy more sustainably) and what they actually do. The article refers mainly to Gen Z but I see this behaviour in friends and family too. Do you ever find yourself making decisions not in alignment with your values? The most valuable thing we can do when trying to create a more conscious lifestyle is to do everything with intention. I have no judgement on where other people buy their fashion, but I would always expect what is bought to have been well considered and thought through, with longevity in mind. As climate change continues to show its impact in so many ways in our daily lives, we need to try and make this a non negotiable in my eyes.

Also, in case you missed it, re-sharing my recent blog post discussing how many clothes you REALLY need in your wardrobe! I dive into the concept of a "Sufficiency Wardrobe" and explore how understanding your wardrobe can transform your style. From identifying key essentials to recognising areas of overconsumption, this is about more than just numbers—it's about creating a wardrobe that truly reflects who you are.

I'm wearing something from my wardrobe that I bought about 5 years ago.. It's got a little sparkle in it, it's still in great condition and fits lovely, so why wouldn't I Alex Standley. I am currently doing a draws and wardrobe cleanse, and being really honest about whether I am ever likely to wear it again. This helps with clearing my mind, and also helps the charity shops. A benefit both ways.

I got a batwing red jumper from Vinted.

Eye opening stat! Blimey. The clothes I get the most compliments on are the ones I find in charity shops. I’m wearing some new velvet trousers I had my eye on for ages that I got in a sale. And a trusty beaded jumper I got from one of the great St Albans charity shops that always makes me feel ready to party xx

I’ve always worn preloved and vintage clothing, it was a trip to the US when I was 16 for Mardi Gras and we had to find an outfit. My first thrift store! I found the most beautiful vintage wedding gown and went to the parade as a goth! It was a look so much so that I was on channel 4 and had 15 mins of fame there 🤣 So my sustainable shopping habits grew from there! My Christmas Day outfit has to be a sparkly green and black vintage jumper and gold sparkly trousers 👏🏻🎄 Have a lovely Christmas! 💚 xx

Good morning Alex wow! That’s incredible statistics I’ll be wearing something out of my wardrobe I suspect it’ll be jeans & a hoodie or maybe a jumper Since being an adult I’ve never bought something new for Christmas Day Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 🎄🎉
