Many successful business owners openly admit that they don't know what franchising really means, and for me the biggest obstacle has been educating business owners, explaining what franchising is and getting them to understand why and how their business is a perfect fit for it.
Franchising can be a complex business for those who don't know the ins and outs. Setting up and running a franchise can be a daunting task and needs a high degree of expertise and I can understand why some business owners put it off. I have also seen the other side of the coin when business owners dive in and do it themselves, often resulting in failure or disgruntled franchisees. Mistakes can prove very costly, as I have seen all to often, but getting it right can rapidly take your business to a new level and ultimately a successful national brand.
This isn't a sales pitch, I wouldn't advise anyone to franchise their business if all the right elements weren't in place, but franchising is one of the most significant, stable and sustainable growth strategies that a business can implement.
