When the Fundraising Regulator visited our Orange Home in Wakefield!

As CEO of Penny Appeal , it was great to welcome our colleagues from the Fundraising Regulator to our orange campus in Wakefield today. This extra-special visit marks a significant milestone in our endeavours to uphold the highest standards and become sector leaders in governance, safeguarding, and accountability. At Penny Appeal, we firmly believe that working closely with organisations like the Fundraising Regulator is essential to achieving a consistent standard of operations so we can ensure that the communities we were chosen to serve receive the best support.

The Fundraising Regulator plays a crucial role in guiding and advising charities like the one in which I am honoured to lead, helping us navigate the complexities of fundraising regulations and best practices within the sector. Their expertise and oversight not only safeguard the interests of our amazing donors, but also enhance the effectiveness and trustworthiness of the charity sector as a whole. I will forever welcome their comments, feedback, and expertise and are eager to engage in constructive dialogue for the benefit of the charity I represent and the beneficiaries we collectively serve.

Welcoming the Fundraising Regulator to our orange campus today was more than just a procedural formality, it remains an opportunity for us to reflect on our practices, celebrate our successes, and identify any areas which need improvement. If anything, it highlights an ongoing commitment to be the best of the best.

I’m so proud of the work we do. From relieving hunger and thirst from poverty-stricken communities to providing emergency response to nations victim to devastating conflict, Penny Appeal continues to provide lifesaving support to our brothers and sisters across the world. We have a huge impact on countless lives and communities and with the ongoing support and guidance from our colleagues at the Fundraising Regulator, we can continue in our mission to transform lives with even the smallest of change.

As always, we extended our warmest welcome to the Fundraising Regulator today and will continue to work closely with them to ensure that the highest standards are upheld throughout every department at Penny Appeal. I personally recognise that maintaining the trust and support of our donors and the public is a continuous journey in which we must be willing to be part of. It’s great to be given the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment and willingness to be held accountable and to continuous improvement.

I’d like to extend a BIG thank you to the team at the Fundraising Regulator for another successful visit, and to all my Penny Appeal colleagues for making our guests feel extra welcome in our orange home. Also, a BIG thanks to our generous supporters and dedicated partners, we are excited and more ready than ever to continue making a BIG difference in the world – Insha’Allah!
