When we give from the heart!
I remember the poem "Giving from the heart! by Ruth Behr Meyer (1978) from the Album (Given to)
I never feel more given to
than when you take from me –
when you understand the joy I feel
giving to you.
And you know my giving isn’t done
to put you in my debt,
but because I want to live the love
I feel for you.
To receive with grace
may be the greatest giving.
There’s no way I can separate
the two.
When you give to me,
I give you my receiving.
When you take from me, I feel so
given to.
Let's have a story resonating with this thought process. Let us say X has had a lot of life experiences of having many partners and chooses not to settle in any less of a relationship than with his or her twin soul. After years and years of exploring relationships, that person decides that it may be best to just enjoy life to its fullest alone.
Then one day out of the blue he or she collides head-on with their soulmate, their other half and the answer and reason for everything they've ever experienced prior. For a good long time, this mutual awareness is the basis of one of the most spectacular relationships imaginable for either person. It's fully reciprocated and spiritually transcendental for both.
But now there is a catch. They are from different nationalities, are from different cultures, and have an age difference that is scandalous in one of their societies. In the end, a decision must be made, between this relationship and the family left behind. All the usual emotional blackmail applies. The partner from the more orthodox culture feels deeply distraught and torn apart about the choice but with the others unconditional love and support, returns home to an unknown future, leaving behind a piece of their heart and soul forever.
The one left behind has no doubts of the feelings of the other and has no doubts this person will find a path that is right. But til then in this life or a next or what possible reason could there be not to continue giving heart, soul and energy to ones true mate? Now there is a dilemma. Do you give all your energy to her who has a full and happy life surrounded by loved ones. But having waited life times for the reunion, But one is at peace with others' feelings the way an amputee misses a limb. You know it would reciprocate even from thousands of miles away and spotty communication process but when given from the heart. some things transcend time and space and become eternal.
Now look at a flower. A flower finds absolute joy in diffusing its fragrance into the space around it and it eventually withers away doing that. Did it matter to the flower as to how many people stopped and partook some of its fragrance ? Did it matter as to how many people stopped by and appreciated its beauty ? No. When something as simple as a flower can so ferociously be itself no matter wherever on the planet it might be, then what is it with us humans that we always have a business minded approach to every aspect of life. Just be yourself and don't think about it. Cheers!
