Where Does Your Confidence Come From?
Today, we’re talking about the ‘C’ word. Confidence!
Confidence is the cornerstone for successful leaders. You will be a leader only in title if you’re motivated, analytical, decisive, and you know how to mentor your team, but you lack a firm belief in yourself.
All said and done, on some days, finding your self-confidence can feel like finding Waldo. You just know it’s somewhere in there wearing a colorful outfit, but you can’t seem to put your finger on it.
The question is, how do you develop a strong, sustainable, and unwavering sense of self-confidence even on days where it may feel hard to find?
Well, to illustrate, here’s a quick anecdote that has an eyebrow-raising twist…You’re going to want to hear this!
Releasing My Confidence Blockers
This happened in March of 2019. I decided I was going to play a self-development game. I told myself, “I'm going to bring $50,000 into my business from somewhere I don’t know it’s coming in already.” While $50,000 was a big amount to manifest out of thin air, I told myself I was going to do it. I had a ton of reservations mind you, but hey, I also had a lot of determination.
In the following month, I took 20 minutes every day and I released blockers to my confidence. I would identify whatever triggered me, whether that was my doubtful inner voice, second-guessing my decisions, or worrying about my business, whatever else - I would acknowledge these and intentionally release them.
I did this every single day, faithfully for 30 days. Interestingly enough, at the end of 30 days, I didn't see the $50,000 in my bank account. But something even more surprising happened.

During that time, my mother was on vacation. She returned at the beginning of April and called to tell me that I had a letter at her house. It had arrived sometime in March.
I opened the letter to find a statement from the University of Wisconsin. I had worked there when I was 21 years old. The statement said that I had put $188 into a retirement account which had been automatically withdrawn from my paycheck. I honestly don’t even remember it happening.
Now get this - I called the University of Wisconsin, and here's what they said to me, “The account has grown to $26,000. At the time you signed up, there were matching funds available. You now have $52,000.”
$52,000! I still get goosebumps talking about this.
I did get the $52,000 and I cleared all of my blockers too! Well, not all of course, because it would take more than a lifetime to do that. But what I'm saying is, it gave me so much confidence that I could really create the life and business that I wanted. That's just one little story of what could happen with confidence!

Coaching The Relational Way: Goodbye Masterplan! Hello Complexity I Owner at Integrative Presence
2yKaren Cappello, MCC and it takes this deep work every day because releasing will not happen 'just like that' - at least, it won't for me. It takes also - from what I notice - creativity and an ease letting go of being attached to the 'outcome'. Not easy but if I allow myself the ease into stillness, what I find is that there is blocker after blocker after blocker saying hello to me. Loads of action in stillness. #ThankYou Karen for the work that you do to nurture our confidence. Truly appreciate your engagement and dedication to our thriving.
