Where to invest your D&I resources?

Where to invest your D&I resources?

Welcome to the 16th edition of our LinkedIn Newsletter, "Inclusion and Diversity Learning Circle," crafted by Diversity Inclusion. The I&D Learning Circle equips you and your organisation with best-practice tools, resources, and information for direct application in your workplace's I&D program, facilitating tangible and transformative change.

In this edition, we delve into the pivotal question: where should organisations allocate their limited diversity and inclusion resources? The array of options available today—ranging from flexible working initiatives and gender equity to cultural awareness, neurodiversity, and LGBTIQA+ initiatives—presents a challenge in decision-making. Additionally, the debate extends to whether the focus should be on developing leadership capabilities, fostering psychological safety, or addressing and preventing inappropriate behaviours such as bullying and harassment.

All organisations grapple with constraints on resources, be it budget, time, or effort. To make informed and effective decisions that genuinely address priorities, diversity and inclusion leaders must gauge the existing levels of diversity and inclusion within the workforce. Engaging employees in this process, collecting, and analysing data will provide invaluable insights, revealing your organisation's diversity and inclusion priorities and guiding resource allocation for maximum impact.

This data-driven approach not only empowers leaders to justify their investments but also serves as a powerful tool to influence decision-makers overseeing the budget allocation. Furthermore, establishing a baseline measure for diversity and inclusion allows for future reassessment, tracking progress, and identifying new priorities for the ongoing D&I strategy.

In our Learning Lab video this month, CEO Lucinda Hewitson shares valuable insights on how to strategically determine where to invest your resources.
