Where Are You Coming From?
How you explain your past experiences to yourself reveals the beliefs that shape your reaction to every event, whether happy or unhappy. Your attitudes act as the window through which you view your life experiences.
When non-resilient individuals ask themselves, "Where am I coming from?" they tend to examine their past and often see problems, failures, and fragility. They seek evidence that confirms their lack of resilience. In contrast, resilient individuals, when pondering the same question, look back on their past and find solutions, strength, and inspiration. They actively search for evidence that reinforces their resilience. In essence, we become what we focus on.
Resilient people understand that it's often impossible to fully appreciate the value of adversity until it's behind them. True understanding and wisdom tend to come after an event, not before it, and hindsight is typically quite clear. You have the ability to mold your perceptions of past events, both positive and negative, into a positive and consistent vision of resilience. #Resilience #Mindset
