Who The Hell Do You Think You Are?

A couple weeks ago I gave a talk about authenticity at The Santa Fe Art Institute. The most authentic thing about the talk was that it was only 140 seconds long (I do so love me some getting right to the point).

I’m sharing it with you here today because if you’re taking great leaps forward into the void, moving ahead without having it all figured out yet, sticking your toe in ponds that have yet to experience the likes of your toe….

you are doing an awesome job. So many times we hold ourselves back because “we’re not ready,” “we don’t have time,” “we need to take 47 more classes first….”

Procrastination is fear in the form of brakes. Waiting until you know exactly what you’re doing or all the circumstances are just right or you’re feeling 100% confident is the best way to wake up at 97 years old, fishing your teeth out of a cup by the bed, wondering what the hell happened to the life you were so excited to live.

You’ve got to get in the game to get the answers.

Don’t wait until you have it all figured out (because, erm, you never will).

Behold my personal, not-so-comfy journey down unknowns roads in the video below:

Hey Jen--what's your take on being authentically badass while navigating business politics?

Looking at the You are a Badass desk calendar today, almost 3.5 years after this article was posted, and today's message is, "When you succumb to fear, you are under the illusion that you can predict the future." If you all don't have the desk calendar, you definitely should if you love her books.

Hi Jen, I'm interested in working with you but wanted to ask if you do any one on one work or if it's just a pre-recorded, self-directed workshop that you offer.  Many thanks in advance.

I have let fear paralyze me for a long time. The thing I found is that action is the cure to fear. Take a deep breath of faith into the unknown with nothing but your goals and dreams, get beat up then come out the other side golden. Love this article!
