Whose script are you playing?
In 2004, Jim Caviezel acted Jesus in the movie the Passion of Jesus. Jim was then starred between 2011 and 2016 in the CBS drama series Person of Interest as a former CIA agent whose stage name was John Reese who worked for a mysterious billionaire as a vigilante.
It’s hard to reconcile Jesus with a vigilante in the same person. Jim simply played the script for which he was hired. Whose script are you playing in your life? Is it a script of a loser that you were handed by a school teacher? Are you playing a script from a parent who never believed in you?
Every moment you live, you’re on a final performance on the stage of life. Different actors will play different roles at different seasons in your life. Some roles are played by default and others by design. But you certainly choose most of the players on your stage. Choose these actors objectively and define their roles. Eliminate redundancy and bankruptcy of ideas. Refuse to play anybody’s script.
But again, you don’t know your end game. It’s foolish to ignore your master plan. The only fulfilling script to play is the one aligned to the purpose for which your life ball was set rolling. Wisdom is to allow the only one who knows your end-game to be the director of your show. For only God knows when your curtains will fall. Don’t invite God into your plans. Follow God’s plans for your life.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11.”
