Why do most SOLOpreneurs fail in the first couple of years?
Why do entrepreneurs fail in the first couple years of business?
More specifically, Why do most SOLOpreneurs fail in the first couple of years?
The answer that everybody knows is: Lack of capital.
Lack of money right? Either they didn't make enough money or they didn't raise enough money.
But a more important question is the following:
What is the REASON that they didn't make enough money in the first couple of years?
My first couple of years as an entrepreneur I was a solopreneur. And it was hard.
I needed to make money, I needed to generate income.
I went along figuring things out on my own. But what I was missing the most was SUPPORT.
If you are aSOLOpreneur, listen to this:
Spending all your time working in your little office, hiding in your cocoon IS NOT HOW YOU GROW FASTER.
Yes, You need to work long hours and get things done, but here is how You can grow faster:
Find the SUPPORT You need.
What do I mean by SUPPORT?
3 things:
1 - NETWORK
Spend time with people that ARE LIKE YOU. Solopreneurs. Just like You.
Entrepreneurs that are on your level or in a level above. People that have the same energy as you.
Interaction with these people is going to give you energy. Moreover You are going to learn so much just by being around and talking with people like you because everybody's going to be working hard, and everyone is going to be sharing what they have learned so far.
So talking and exchanging ideas with other SOLOpreneurs will cause you to grow so much faster just by doing that.
And I've made this mistake. I was like: You know what? I don't need anybody else. I'm just gonna be me and my office and my computer. And that's it. Yeah, it sucked. And it took me FOUR years to just get out of this solopreneur phase.
So DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID and get in the same room with other entrepreneurs like you.
2 - ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Solopreneurs get into this idea that they need to do everything.
And at first you have to. At least until you do your first sale, or first couple sales. Then as soon as you can: HIRE YOUR FIRST ADMIN.
I'm speaking from experience here so listen:
Start writing down all the admin work that you do right now. Write down all the administrative work that you hate doing.

Now, if you hate making sales calls, that's not what I'm talking about. I am talking about administrative tasks. Repetitive tasks, like:
- building lists
- Cleaning lists
- Printing lists
- Data entry
- Mailing letters or notes
Now, as soon as you're able to, as soon as You make enough sales where you have some money, you're going to grab your list, and you're going to hire somebody part time or full time and you're going to give them these tasks to do.
Admin tasks can take 10-20 hours out of your week and if you give it to somebody else and you pay them $15 per hour to do these tasks, all of the sudden you have an extra 20 hours to work on the tasks that make You money , like MARKETING and SALES.
Here is a tip: You can hire administrative assistants overseas for half and sometimes even less the cost of a local in person admin. This will be your decision as it depends on your needs, your budget.
3 - MENTORSHIP
Find somebody that you can learn from.
Someone that has successfully leveled up from the SOLOpreneur phase.
Someone that has been there. Someone that has done that.
Someone that can give you guidance and share some of their mistakes and lessons throughout this entrepreneurial journey.
So, listen this is the type of support that we offer at our Office communities.
OC2 is our newest entrepreneur community that we are making available to approved SOLOpreneurs starting Aug 31st 2023.
These are executive suites that were tailored built just for solopreneurs.
You will be able to rent a small suite to do your work and at the same time be a part of a big community, where you find other solopreneurs JUST LIKE YOU, so you don't have to feel like you're alone in this fight anymore.
I've been there. I know!
And that is one of the reasons that I built this.
Because providing the right support for solopreneur can shorten your journey from FOUR years just like me to ONE OR TWO.
