Why Does God Love the Tribe Of Jacob
Why Does God Love the Tribe Of Jacob
by Apostle Ugonna Alinnor
It was clearly stated in the Bible that God loves the children of Jacob. God loves all people for sure, but so why so much love for the children of Jacob which has become the nation of Israel today?
- God chose the Israelites (the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) for a special reason. He gave them an opportunity to become the model nation of His way of life for all nations, so that all people could have His blessings.
Jacob was later given the name Israel, and is regarded as a patriarch of the Israelites
He blessed Israel because of the faith and obedience of Abraham, but He made it clear it wasn’t because they were great or righteous (Deuteronomy 7:7-8 says, The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt).
Note: The current population of Israel is 8,912,787 as of Sunday, May 29, 2022, based on Worldometer yet the nation is among the world’s top economies per GDP in dollar per capita
Unfortunately, they failed to be the model nation God desired; and because of their national sins, they incurred God’s punishment. God loves all people and He is now working spiritually with individuals from all nations
Galatians 3:28-29 says,
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise
- God chose the Israelites to fulfil his promise to Abraham
God promised Abraham that his children, and children’s children would become a great nation and occupy the land of Canaan
Genesis 12:1-3 says,
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
- Another reason God blessed Abraham and his descendants is because of Abraham faith in Him, a living faith that resulted in diligent obedience to God’s instructions and law, Genesis 26:3-5 says, Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
This promise was repeated to Abraham’s son, Isaac,
Genesis 26:24; says,
That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”
That same promise was also repeated to Abraham’s grandson, Jacob
Genesis 28:1-4 says
So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him. Then he commanded him: “Do not marry a Canaanite woman.
Go at once to Paddan Aram,[ to the house of your mother’s father Bethuel. Take a wife for yourself there, from among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.
May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples.
May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
Note: The land in which the Israel Nation is in is one of the most protected place one earth with nuclear missile capabilities as well as biological and chemical weapons
