Why Does Wonder Woman Wear Bracelets?... (And How Your Business Can Learn From It)

Why Does Wonder Woman Wear Bracelets?... (And How Your Business Can Learn From It)

They are not bracelets. They are manacles.

You see, Greek mythology is something I am pretty well-versed in. I never wrote a paper in college that got a B. Get your kids some Greek myth books. They will have a huge leg up as they can make an allusion to a Greek myth and English professors automatically decide your kid is their favorite. They also read like a comic book with super-powered shenanigans happening daily.

So, anyhoo... in Hercules' 10 Labors, he had to get the Golden Girdle of Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons. Of course, only Herc could have seduced an unbeatable warrior queen. He got the girdle and then (according to the comics, not Greek mythology) enslaved the Amazons. They would later be freed by the goddess Hera, but they would have to bear the shame of their chains forever and always wear the manacles as a reminder. If they take them off, they go insane.

That's the end of the divergent history. Unlike Princess Diana and her gal pals, we can remove our shackles for past failures and throw them away, but many choose to keep them. If you want some great help in this area, speaker Chukky (pronounced: choo'-kee) Okobi (former NFL player turned speaker and coach) has some great words on this. He tells how broken people want their broken children fixed, and he has to tell them that they as parents need fixing first to fix the child. They struggle with that. They think it's the kid, and they can't take off their own manacles. You can get Chukky here.

We all have some past deed or ugly thing we've seen and lived through and just need to drop the manacle and leave it in our wake. I help businesses automate philanthropy and fix something broken without doing anything other than opening their shop every day.
