Why Hyperconverged Infrastructure beats Cloud Computing for Enterprise Adoption? Be prepared for the next step !

There's a great deal of hype surrounding hyperconverged infrastructure. And there's good reason for it. It's not dissimilar to the hype that surrounded (and continues to surround) cloud computing. Like cloud, hyperconvergence has reached an inflection point where the market is accepting it as a mainstream data center solution, particularly in the enterprise. It's proven to be cost-effective, simple, and efficient, and customers are latching on to the "data center in a box" approach.

Not only has the increase in global adoption of hyperconverged solutions validated the technology's usage, the quickly crowding competitive market is also a key indicator of the value of hyperconvergence. Big, established vendors have entered the hyperconverged infrastructure market, along with the crop of successful, disruptive startups that paved the way in creating the market and driving it forward.

Many are wondering where the emergence of hyperconverged infrastructure leaves cloud computing when it comes to enterprise adoption. A recent report from TechTarget explored the reasons for interest and adoption in both hyperconverged infrastructure and cloud computing. Interestingly enough, the reasons for deploying, or considering deploying, both hyperconverged infrastructure and cloud computing were practically identical, as both the ability to scale faster and add additional infrastructure were listed as two of the top three factors considered for both technologies. That said, the majority of respondents felt that hyperconverged infrastructure was the better choice when looking to modernize IT environments. Respondents to the survey emphasized that hyperconverged infrastructure was especially advantageous over cloud because it offered greatly simplified management and was less upsetting to IT operations.

For hyperconverged infrastructure to fully establish itself as the number one choice for enterprise customers, the disruptive vendors need to continue to mature and prove that enterprise customers are running mission-critical workloads on hyperconverged solutions and are having success doing so.

Another sign of the momentum behind hyperconverged infrastructure is the size of the companies not only adopting the technology for a specific use case, but actually standardizing on it for all data center functions.  Even Fortune 50 enterprises are adopting hyperconvergence to run all mission-critical workloads, saving millions of dollars in IT infrastructure and operational costs. These are not isolated occurrences, or exceptions to the rule, but are becoming the norm for enterprises looking to massively simplify their IT environments while improving operational efficiency and reducing costs.

With the rising amount of enterprises adopting hyperconvergence for all IT operations and data center functions, the time for hyperconverged infrastructure has
