Why I bother to write #unshaken?

“There is MORE to life than we can dream of, when we uncover what we are meant for.”

We are living in a perplexing time when the people of the world are experiencing shades of darkness, and the great changes. The Covid pandemic, climate change, social-political-economical shifts, great resignation, reinvention, innovation, transition, essentially with fears all colliding like a pieces of Tetris. Trapped.

Do you see the same?

Darkness covering the Earth in chaos, turmoil, turbulence; and deep darkness upon the people with freedom severely curtailed, with their minds clouded, suffering in many aspects of their lives; broken in an excruciating outcry for hope. Life is no longer what it once was. It’s completely unprecedented. Humanity is deeply disrupted.

Do you feel the same?

Many are waiting for a silver lining amidst these intersections. VUCA world (i.e., volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) is certainly an understatement of what we have been confronted with living with the pandemic, and the associated worries and catastrophic events regarding climate challenges. Coming out from a United Nation Climate Change Conference COP 26 Summit in Glasgow recently in late 2021, Vulnerability is clearly a new term to add to the VUCA equation, bringing us to a “VUCAV world on steroids.”

Do you experience the same?

I did until I stepped back, paused, and reflected. Hope came when I chose to see grace amidst the chaos. We can learn and glean from the past stories for similar context to use in the future. 

Isn’t everything about perspective?

If you are willing to choose overcoming perspective, you are setup to see differently from our current darkness with brighter thoughts. You are setup to see success ahead, for victories in life you will own. With a sound mind and with a decent perspective (hopefully a positive one) we can thrive. It is about how we internalise whatever is going-on externally. With that posture, we can have better clarity over matters, to make sound decisions and navigate effectively whatever comes our way.

We all have different and unique experiences during the same crisis. Each journey is unique but we can choose to step up to make a difference along the way, to deliberately journey with those who need support or have fallen behind. When we get through the crisis together, we will all find success in this battle to cross over victoriously. And I am here for that, with you.

I love how Jean Lin beautifully inspired in her Forward on #unshaken...Growth and good can no longer be separated. Growth from good is the only path to go, as we convert empathy into impact.

I wrote this book because it breaks my heart to see many with extreme potential suffer. Even when I mentor in the executive MBA program, many are grappling with the alarming speed of change and wonder if they can find meaning in their work and thrive.

Yes, you can! I wrote this book to share with you the brilliant opportunities in this transition and how you can position yourself effectively, not just to win but to bring others along with you, to write the narrative of the future you want to see.

This is a journey amidst crisis and also a pursuit of a dream in life. Do you want a victorious life? Often, the journey begins with a battle for a sound mind to make good decisions against bad thoughts and limiting self-beliefs. It is hard to journey alone, and in the dark the opportunities of victory may seem far. However, if we seek wise counsel from those who have gone before us, we can glean from their experiences, perspectives, successes and failures. 

Their insight and understanding will lead us on a victorious journey. In short, wise counsel may be able to awaken our minds and enlighten our paths with clarity to win. The battle is often beyond the physical, it is a fight of the mind and spirit. Usually, half the battle is already won with strategic insights into the battlefield when we are positioned well and have a wise game plan.

I strongly believe we are right at the century tipping point of the new to the never-before of Digital Genesis. Painting this specific futuristic vision in a coaching-oriented style with tools, quotes and reflections, I trust this will empower clarity for you. Let this serve as an inflection point. It will help you to birth vision, ideas, action plans or your own revolution and revelation to internalise and own.

NOW is a golden age to leverage digital (AI and technology) for our Good and Growth in particular to solve for the Societal Sustainability challenges humanity is confronted with. But first, we need the people especially leaders to be well - with a Sound Mind. In particular, the Millennials who sandwiched between generations yet struggling to find clarity for Purpose and meaning in what they are meant for. They are the weakest link challenged with the widening gap of tech’s exponential growth and human’s linearity ways of working and living. This book is meant for them and also you the leaders who empower and shape them.

I want you who picked up #unshaken, to be successful and thrive in the Digital Genesis. You can steward AI and technologies for the good of humanity and growth of everyone towards the non-linear progression. We have an opportunity to leverage advanced technologies to accelerate great innovation for us. We can harness tools working in our favour to solve for many overwhelming sustainability challenges we are confronted with today. At least, I believe you can achieve a perspective and mindset shift from fear and languishing in chaos towards a meaningful focus for a purposeful journey ahead.

I also envision a great wealth transfer during the Great Transition. May this wealth transfer be for good. Like any journey for a great treasure, there is always a battle of good and evil. We shall expect a great disruption and threat of abuse, or mismanagement of technologies that aim to bring marginalisation and great divide to humanity with machines and AI (Artificial Intelligence). The fear of being irrelevant, left behind, and technology compounds with the idea that the singularity is real. We need wise rulers and stewards to narrate the digital chronicles for humanity’s growth, with great innovation to solve the problems of everything in aligned synergy, rapid collaborations under sound governance. We certainly need you to rise with a pivotal mindset and a thriving spirit to lead those struggling during this Great Transition.

I believe in you. I feel it necessary to step up and share this timely revelation and awaken movement as #unshaken. With the understanding and insights I gained, this book serves to shine the light forth with clarity on you and show you the way to a brighter future.
