Why is it important to delegate the Business Operations?
Wouldn’t it be great to delegate all the operations in your business to an expert who knows business ops?
Of course!
We all want to delegate work where we can… ALWAYS.
I know I do.
I delegate all the work that is not my zone of genius or zone of excellence. Meaning, I delegate most of my tech, all of my social media, some of my community management, marketing, advertising, copy writing and editing, bookkeeping & accounting and a few other things to others on my team.
Here’s the thing about business operations. While you can delegate the integration and implementation of operations to a team member, you still have to be involved and do some of the work on your operations.
Damn… I know.
As a business operations manager and COO for clients, I am more of a partner in the creation of their operations.
You as the business owner generally know what and how you want your business to operate and function, but you don’t always know the “HOW” to get there.
That’s where I come in. The HOW.
The strategy, the conceptualization, the implementation, the integration, the training and the maintenance.
My clients that have achieved the most success have been actively involved in their operations.
It’s YOUR business.
It’s not my business. I have my own business.
But my business is meant to support your business.
You must be willing to invest the time and the money to work with your operations manager to achieve efficient and sustainable business practices. I cannot tell you what your goals are. I cannot tell you what you want to achieve.
I can tell you how we need to set up your systems, processes and workflows to get you on solid ground to achieve your goals.

I can tell you what technology is best for you at this moment in time for your business.
I can help you set up a business infrastructure that will grow as your business grows.
I can create a lot of things that work really well in your business, but you and I have to be on the same page. You have to play in my sandbox. You have to set aside time to show me your vision. You have to be willing to do some work yourself to move certain aspects forward.
Right now we are in the middle of shifting a client’s processes in their project management system. We hired an expert in that specific PMS and then we made a plan to make the appropriate changes.
You know what happened?
My client dove in and decided to make the shifts herself instead of having my team do it. We are working with her on it, but she realized because of how detailed their tasks and projects are, she is actually the best person to make these changes as she can adjust and adapt in the moment rather than going back to fix something that someone on her team or my team did.
She was and is willing to do the work… and she’s excited about it and really enjoying it.
She wasn’t expecting to do the work, nor was she expecting to enjoy the work. Once she got into it though, she was able to identify what she truly needed and wanted and how she wanted it to look and function.
Sometimes, that’s what is needed. You, the business owner, have to be willing to dive in and do the work. Yes, hiring a team or someone to delegate the work to is great and necessary, but when you understand what you are asking for, what you want and what you need… you too can get excited about implementing system changes.
I recently sat down with a new client and as we were discussing expectations, I explained that they would need to be actively involved in the implementation of the new systems. That I would be training them alongside their team and that I required that they be willing to invest the time and energy.
I set that expectation because in the very first call, they expressed how busy and overwhelmed they were. I was concerned about their commitment level.
I’m proud to say that this client is also excited about jumping into the new systems that we are creating. As we prep to build out their new PMS, they asked for a list of templates to review and play with before we started building. They are going to do their homework and prepare. We have a lot of work to do on this build out, but I LOVE when a client is ALL IN on the work and moving their business forward.
In the end, it’s your business. In the end, I’m here to support you. In the end, I may not always be around. In the end, you have to know your business and be willing to do the work.
