Why Montenegro?
As a start, Montenegro has to be one of the best places in the world that you likely never heard of or knew very much about.
If you love the culture, style, history, safety and security of Europe but also really want to escape the pressures and over-regulation of living in the mainstream ‘rat race’ then Montenegro is an exceptional little green & clean country with stunning natural beauty, right in the heart of Europe that you should quickly become acquainted with.
Nestled between Croatia, Albania, Serbia and Kosovo and only a few hours hop from so many European and other countries, Montenegro is a hidden treasure that boasts a clean natural environment, rich culture, a long and interesting history, no crowds, mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine based on fresh local seafood, naturally grown fruits and vegetables, and abundantly good weather most of the year.
This tiny country is also socially warm and politically welcoming with multiple UNESCO listed medieval towns & sites, breathtaking mountains, 180 miles of pristine Adriatic coastline and massive bays to sail and explore. It also shares the largest lake in Southern Europe with Jurassic scenery that the best in Hollywood can only try to replicate.
Economic Citizenship, Residency, Corporations & Tax
What is increasingly apparent, is that Montenegro is rapidly coming of age and on to the radar as one of the worlds best Economic Citizenship options as well as a place to live and operate from, as a first, second or even third home. Companies are easy to set up, the tax regime is extremely competitive (best in Europe) and there are no restrictions on bonafide foreign investors and the repatriation of capital. There is also a growing list of important Double Taxation Treaties and the cost of living is a fraction of that of so many other European destinations.
Where to live
If you’re looking for a specific place to live and work as either an expatriate, a permanent resident or new Montenegrin citizen, it’s hard to beat the line up of Porto Montenegro portomontenegro.com Portonovi portonovi.com and Lustica Bay lusticabay.com
Holidays & Touring
Alternatively, if you are seeking either a low budget or a luxury holiday this spring / summer season then practically anywhere along the Montenegrin Adriatic Coastline offers up all kinds of holiday options with a multitude of interesting towns.
From Herceg Novi in the north, (close to the Croatian border and Dubrovnik Airport) to the UNESCO listed towns of Kotor (located at the end of Kotor Bay, Europes most southern fjord) and the 5th Century BC medieval Ulcinj in the south (which also conveniently sits at the start of Europe’s longest sand beach and the Albanian border).
There is so much on offer from super chill to super adventure with the numerous beaches, coves, bays, waterways, lakes and alpine terrain and if partying is your thing then yes, head to Porto Montenegro for cool and elegant or to the town of Budva for a more hedonistic scene with bars, clubs and restaurants to suit any taste.

3yI had the privilege to step onboard Riana a few years ago when she was moored year round, right in front of Porto Montenegro's One restaurant... a beauty indeed, inside and out!

3yGreat overview of the hidden gem of Montenegro. 🇲🇪 There exists an entire northern/inland section that is well worth exploring. This includes scenic mountains perfect for hiking and skiing and also includes the Tara River for rafting (often considered the 2nd deepest canyon in the world). Skadar Lake and it's diverse wildlife is well worth visiting and its famous carp and ukljeve must be tried as well. * Montenegro also has a lengthy border with Bosnia&Herzegovina🇧🇦
