Why Most LinkedIn Content Strategies Fail (And What Actually Works)

The $27,400 "Pre-Sale Content" Framework That Breaks All the Rules

I'm about to make some LinkedIn "experts" very angry...

 

Because today, I'm going to tell you why most LinkedIn content advice is completely wrong for people selling digital products, coaching, consulting, or really anything that makes you money.

You've probably heard all this before:

❌ "Post every day!"

❌ "Use lots of emojis!"

❌ "Write viral threads!"

❌ "Comment on 50 posts daily!"

 

Here's the cold, hard truth: Engagement doesn't pay the bills.

Let me prove it to you...


Last year, I ran an experiment with two LinkedIn accounts:

Account A followed all the "expert" advice:

✅ Posted daily

✅ Used trending hashtags

✅ Followed all engagement best practices

✅ Generated 1.2M post views in 90 days

✅ Resulted in $1,200 in sales


Account B used my "Pre-Sale Content" strategy:

✅ Posted just three times a week

✅ No hashtags

✅ No engagement pods

✅ Leveraged LinkedIn newsletters & email

✅ Generated 156K post views in 90 days

✅ Resulted in $27,400 in sales

 

Same offer. Same price point. Dramatically different results.


Why such a massive difference?

Because Account B used what I call "Pre-Sale Content" - a specific type of content that subtly positions your digital product as the obvious solution to your audience's problems.

 

Here's a real example:

Sarah (a productivity coach I worked with) was struggling to sell her $497 time management course. She was posting daily motivation quotes and generic productivity tips, getting decent engagement but no sales.


We switched her to my Pre-Sale Content framework:

Week 1 Post:

"Just helped a client implement a simple 15-minute morning routine that doubled her productive hours. She went from completing 40% of her daily tasks to 90%... without working longer hours.

The secret? It's not about managing time. It's about managing energy.

Here are 3 things she changed:

This single post generated:

✅ 147 comments

✅ 32 DMs requesting the blueprint

✅ 13 course sales ($6,461 in revenue)

 

Why did this work so well?

✅ It leads with a specific result (doubled productive hours)

✅ It challenges a common belief (time management vs. energy management)

✅ It gives away valuable content freely

✅ It creates curiosity about the complete solution

✅ It makes engagement easy (drop an emoji)

 

But here's what most people miss:

The post itself isn't selling anything. It's pre-selling by demonstrating expertise and creating desire for the complete solution.
