Why North East Lincolnshire ……. ?

I am continuing my journey around the UK and I have landed on North East Lincolnshire. Snuggled below the Humber Estuary (which divides it from East Yorkshire) . The coast line runs for more than 50 miles (80 km) to the marshlands of the Wash, where it meets Norfolk.

North East Lincolnshire has all the oldy worldy costal delights that I just love. Fabulous beaches include Mablethorpe Beach, Cleethorpes Beach and of course Skegness Beach where I  remember many childhood family holidays at Butlins.

Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway

Now, who doesn’t love a steam train? Trains run from Kingsway station, The track continues 900 yards (823 m) south-east to a new station at North Sea Lane, close to the Meridian Line and the mouth of the Buck Beck.

Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln

Here it is the religious site where I definitely will go for a bit of silent reflection.  Lincoln Cathedral has been described as “the finest gothic building in Europe.” Around the Cathedral there is information available about its history, present activities taking place and the Cathedral’s hopes for the future. You will also have the opportunity to search for the Lincoln Imp, which hides in the walls of the Cathedral and take part in a tour by an experienced guide. Tours are available for both the roof and tower.

The Boston Woods Trust

I love to take myself for a walk and The Sir Joseph Banks Country Park and Woods is an 80 acre site of young woodland and wild flower meadow situated between West End Road and Old Hammond Beck, just south of Boston.

Belton House, Grantham

How about a bit of Culture? Belton House is a Grade I listed country house which is surrounded by formal gardens and a larger wooded park. Set in its own extensive deer park, the area is owned by the National Trust and was built in the late 17th century. The house benefits from an adventure playground, gardens, shops, restaurants and guided tours of the house basements.
