Why Off The Wall NEEDS ITS OWN MOVIE!!!
Before BAD, Before Thriller, it was OFF THE WALL!!! The album that linked MUSIC LEGENDS named Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones & Rod Temperton. The album is a TIMELESS CLASSIC & you can hear its influence in albums such as Justin Timberlake's "Justified & The 20/20 Experience" as well as Usher's 8701 & Confessions & Ne-Yo's "In My Own Words" & "Because of You" albums, just to name a few. Off The Wall sparked, arguably, the greatest 3 album run in Pop Music history with THRILLER & BAD as it's successors. This is just a tip of the iceberg, here's my main point of view why Off The Wall should have its own movie:
Imagine, the mid-late 1970s, all 3 of these guys are in the middle of an interesting career transition. Michael, wanting to establish himself outside of the legacy he built with his brothers & burst out of the that child star bubble that he was in under the Berry Gordy & Motown machine, as well as wanting to be apart of the action happening at the famous disco nightclub "Studio 54" in New York City. After winning Emmys for his musical contributions to the television even that is "ROOTS", Quincy Jones was the go-to-guy to not only produce music, but to score films & television show theme songs such as Sanford & Son & Ironside. Songwriter Rod Temperton had success as a songwriter & member of the Funk band "Heatwave", where he went on to write the classic hits "Boogie Nights" & "Always & Forever."
Michael & Quincy connects while working on the classic movie "The Wiz." Michael approaches Quincy about working on his album. Michael's record label at the time, pushed back on the idea of a" jazzy" producer like Quincy producing music for Michael. Also, at the same time, Temperton's band Heatwave was looking for Quincy to produce their album but allegedly, Quincy turned them down to do music for The Wiz, where he meets Michael. Even more ironically, Rod Temperton offers a song to Heatwave called "Rock With You" & Heatwave passed on it. Rod then links up with Quincy, who was so impressed with Rod's work with Heatwave & said something to the effect of "You're a White dude from England, but you wrote these funky soulful songs for Heatwave? That's groovy, man!" Quincy then introduces Rod to Michael & they record "Rock With You" & the rest is history.

All in all: Doesn't this make for a solid premise for the Off The Wall movie? I'm ready to purchase a ticket to see it in theaters. How about you? Tell me what you think.
