Why People That Suck At Soft Tissue Treatments Say "Soft Tissue Treatments Don't Work."

This past week I stumbled on a post from a “well-known” massage therapist who teaches courses and basically, they went through why soft tissue work doesn’t work and it just made me shake my head and have lots of thoughts that I decided to share in this post…

Normally I see this nonsense from PTs & Chiros who suck at soft tissue work and live in a fantasy world that it “doesn’t work,” 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘓𝘚𝘖 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 “𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦” 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 “𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘔𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘥,” 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘺...

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐭.

Soft tissue treatment is one of those things that fall into that category. Soft tissue treatments are effective, they are safe and when done correctly they can have a very long-lasting effect.

𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴…

You have to work hard and dedicate yourself to getting better at it, day in and day out. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫.

When someone can get out of pain, without the use of drugs or surgeries in a safe manner they can get their life back and avoid bigger problems down the road like surgeries and pain pills.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯-𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦.

The problem we run into in society, and it is no different than any injury practitioners out there is 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘬, 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘧𝘪𝘹, 𝘰𝘳 “𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘬” 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘴ooner and with less pain.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the quick fix and gimmicks just don’t work.

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐭-𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫.

It is just like learning an instrument and you have to practice every day and get better. The people out there that tend to bash soft tissue treatments by saying that “it doesn’t work” are the same ones looking for the quick fix or easy way out and instead of growing a set of nuts and admitting they suck at something they go to a bashing mentality.

Trust me it's a lot easier to throw some tape on there, run over laser, give an adjustment, or coach some exercise on an injury, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳?

𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲…

Soft tissue treatments work very well, they are very effective and can be beneficial to the majority of any musculoskeletal injury if you disagree I would pose the question of if it’s because you are just lazy and don’t want to put the time into getting better.

Heehee! I think I know which “Only I Know the WAY” instructor you’re talking about. And if my guess is correct, his techniques are very useful, but they’re not a replacement for all the other equally useful techniques I’ve learned over the years. Bodies are different, conditions are different, people are different. Your approaches and treatments need to be different too. There is no single “the WAY”!
