Why presence detection is central to Bodhi building management

Why presence detection is central to Bodhi building management

A key benefit of Bodhi is its ability to generate welcome and away scenes based on occupancy.

When a guest or homeowner first enters a unit, Bodhi can choose a lighting scene, play soft music, display a welcome message on the TV, adjust the climate and adjust the shades.

When they leave, Bodhi can turn down or turn off lights, set back heating or cooling, turn off entertainment systems and other systems you specify.

In this way, Bodhi can provide dramatic energy and cost savings while improving the satisfaction of your clients.

All of this can only work if there’s a good, accurate way to detect occupancy.

We built Bodhi with the ability to use a wide variety of occupancy sensors, allowing you to choose a sensor that works well in your environment or to take advantage of those you may already have installed.

The key is to choose a sensor that covers the entire room, is very sensitive to the presence of occupants and is unlikely to give a false-off reading, that is turn systems off when someone is present.

Good choices include Crestron passive-infrared and (depending on the application) dual-technology sensors, the Bodhi Thermostat or Thermostat Bridge (which include presence detection), the Bodhi Wireless Occupancy Sensor, and Lutron sensors.

Presence detection is just one way Bodhi bridges the gap between the building, the technology, and the user experience.
